Shazya Khan
Shazya Khan is a Gender Equity Strategist, Global Diversity, Equity
and Inclusion Consultant, and partnerships professional with more than
15 years of experience across corporate, government, and community
sectors. She specialises in workforce participation, inclusive
leadership, equitable recruitment, and systemic barriers affecting
women, migrants, and multicultural communities.
Through her global DEI work, Shazya has advised organisations on
building more inclusive workplaces, led women's leadership programs,
and implemented employee resource groups that supported employees
across multiple intersectional identities. She is particularly
interested in the systemic factors that influence workforce
participation, leadership pathways, and economic inclusion.
A graduate of the Pathways to Politics for Women program and a
scholarship recipient with Australian Progress, Shazya is a passionate
advocate for increasing women's participation in leadership and
decision-making across business, community, and political spheres.
She is a regular speaker, facilitator, and MC, having delivered
keynote presentations, panel discussions, cultural capability
workshops, and leadership programs for universities, councils,
community organisations, and national conferences. Her speaking
engagements have included the Women of Colour Leadership and Allyship
Summit, podcasts on gender equity and inclusion, and forums exploring
the economic and social participation of women and migrant
communities.
Beyond her professional work, Shazya supports donor engagement for
Women of Colour Australia, mentors newly arrived migrants through
employment pathways programs with Glow Up Careers, contributes to the
Australian Multicultural Women's Advocacy Network, and supports
strategic partnerships with the Greater Western Sydney Advocacy
Network. These roles provide her with direct insight into the
opportunities and challenges facing culturally diverse communities
across Australia.
