Fitzroy Legal Service

Rosie Heselev is a lawyer and social justice advocate with Fitzroy Legal Service. Starting as the Trainee Lawyer in 2020, Rosie soon became a duty lawyer at the Neighbourhood Justice Centre, a court with a therapeutic justice model, before becoming the lawyer on the Prison Advocacy Program. Rosie works together with people in prison and their families to ensure their human rights are upheld, and that incarcerated people are treated with dignity. Rosie sees great potential in imaginative, abolitionist thinking to truly transform the world into a safe and just society. She owes a lot to women who walked before her, including Audre Lorde, Angela Davis and Debbie Kilroy.
