Joannie Lee

Joannie is currently the community organiser for Democracy in Colour, a racial and economic justice organisation in Australia.

Born in Malaysia, she moved to Australia when she was in her teens. Her lived experience as a migrant and her identity as a person of colour led her to be passionate about building the political power of people of colour and anti-racism.

She lives on Dharawal Land in South West Sydney and has been organising communities of colour in Western Sydney and across the continent on the Migration with Dignity campaign.

Joannie has a Masters in Development studies and has been involved in the not for profit sector with organisations such as Action Aid, Sydney Alliance, Red Cross and Oxfam.
