Gabriela is originally from Brazil and learnt early on from her family that we must be part of the change we want in society. Following her passion, Gabriela completed a bachelor's of Social Work at the Australian Catholic University, and in her career, she specialised in working with migrant communities.

Since late 2020, Gabriela has worked as a community organiser at the Sydney Community Forum. She supports temporary migrants and international students through the Oz International Students Hub (OISH) a project that promotes advocacy, welcome, prevention and early intervention support. She also runs a project in the same organisation proving case management of international students facing complex cases.

In January 2020, she started coordinating a multifaceted project socialising newly arrived refugee women, creating pathways out of poverty by teaching English through sewing classes utilising clothes otherwise destined for landfill.

In 2019 she managed a project at the Horn of Africa Relief and Development Agency supporting refugees to find job positions in Sydney.

In late 2019 Gabriela co-funded the Coronavirus Relief project, a temporary project created to provide basic needs for the Brazilian community during the lockdown in Australia. The project had 60 volunteers and supported directly and indirectly over 3000 community members.

Gabriela has also volunteered most of her life and her most recent experiences are with the Brazilian Community Council of Australia (BRACCA) supporting the Brazilian community and with the Sydney Alliance as a community organiser.
